Goodbye to Air Conditioners? Scientists Invent New Paint That Can Keep Homes Cooler in Summer, Warmer in Winter.
Bid farewell to the air conditioners as scientists have developed an alternative. A team from Stanford University in the US has manufactured a paint that provides a cooling effect in summers and a warming effect in winters.
The journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published the research indicating that this innovative paint could serve as a substitute for both air conditioners and heating systems collectively accounting for 13% of the world’s energy consumption and 11% of toxic gas emissions. In addition, the scientists claim that this innovative paint can provide 21% energy savings on the electricity bill.

A 1954 Ferrari Car that Crashed and Burned in a Race Sold for over 45 Crore
Posted by: Ayesha Shoukat - 08-20-2023, 12:56 PM - Forum: Technology - No Replies

A severely damaged, battered, and charred piece of metal that once represented a Ferrari race car from decades past has recently been sold at an RM Sotheby's auction in California for a staggering $1.9 million.
While this might appear surprising, the investment isn't as unfavorable as it seems, especially if the buyer is seeking more than just financial gain: a piece of racing history and the opportunity to pursue their own glory.
This particular vehicle, a 1954 Ferrari Mondial Spider Series I, holds significance as one of only 13 ever produced. It deviates from Ferrari's renowned V12 models, instead featuring an entirely distinct design. The car, powered by a four-cylinder engine, was specifically crafted for navigating intricate tracks characterized by numerous curves and limited straight sections, making a smaller, lighter engine highly desirable.

Instagram Threads has lost Nearly 80% of its Users
Posted by: Ayesha Shoukat - 08-20-2023, 12:52 PM - Forum: Technology - No Replies

Threads, introduced as Meta's answer to Twitter, has witnessed a significant drop in active users, losing 79% since its launch. Prominent companies like Wendy’s, Anthropologie, and Rare Beauty have scaled back their activity on Threads. This decline comes after an initial strong start, where Threads gained 5 million user registrations quickly and surpassed 100 million users within a week.
However, the app's popularity has waned over time, and it never reached even half of Twitter's daily user count, which consistently exceeds 100 million.
Threads was intended to capitalize on Twitter's challenges after Elon Musk's acquisition, but his controversial policy changes and layoffs have affected Twitter's ad revenue and user experience.
Both Musk and Zuckerberg exchanged playful challenges for a cage fight, though Zuckerberg suggested Musk wasn't genuinely committed to the idea.

Pakistan's First Astronaut Nimra Salim to Fly National Flag in Space this Year
Posted by: Ayesha Shoukat - 08-18-2023, 11:13 AM - Forum: Technology - No Replies

Before the conclusion of this year, Namira Salim is set to achieve a remarkable feat as she proudly raises the national flag of Pakistan in space, becoming the first Pakistani astronaut to embark on Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, the world's pioneering private spaceflight company.
Notably, Namira Salim has a history of symbolically representing her country in space endeavors. In March 2008, she presented the first Pakistani national flag sent to space aboard the Swedish Space Corporation's Regus 6 Sub-Orbital Rocket to Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
This memorable presentation occurred during the EU-Pakistan Summit held in Brussels in June 2010. It's worth noting that Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani comes from a lineage deeply rooted in Pakistan's history; his forefathers were instrumental in the country's struggle for independence, and his father, Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani, was among the signatories of the Pakistan Resolution.

Chinese Scientists Develop High-Performance Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery
Posted by: Ayesha Shoukat - 08-18-2023, 11:06 AM - Forum: Technology - No Replies

Chinese Scientists Develop High-Performance Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery With Longer Lifespan in Weak Magnetic Fields.
Under the leadership of Prof. Zhao Bangchuan, researchers from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have developed a long-lasting aqueous zinc-ion battery that demonstrates exceptional durability, even when exposed to a weak magnetic field.
Their findings, published in Materials Horizons, present an inventive method for enhancing the performance of aqueous zinc-ion batteries, which offer a safe and cost-effective alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries.
By utilizing hydrothermal processing and in-situ electrochemical defect engineering, the team designed a VS2 material that effectively suppressed dendrite growth within the battery. Furthermore, the application of a weak magnetic field significantly extended the overall lifespan of the battery.
